"It is very often nothing but our own vanity that deceives us."
- Chapter 24, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
kate spade pride & prejudice book clutch
Kate Spade has re-imagined a few of our favorite titles and crafted them into super cute & clever clutches. This one is so sweet! It's definitely my favorite. Other titles here.
Bikram yoga. Have you ever tried it?
It's a type of yoga that was developed by Bikram Choudhury in the early 70's. Classes run exactly 90 minutes and consist of a set series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. The room is heated to approximately 105°F with 40% humidity. It's the original hot yoga. :)
I started my practice at Maine Bikram Yoga January 2010 and instantly fell in love with it.
Last June I completed a 60 day challenge and I have to tell you...I felt amazing! Sadly, my practice has fallen apart over the last year. A lot of personal stuff got in the way of making it to class and honestly even if I did manage to get myself to the studio, I spent most of the 90 minute class stuck in my head. Not the best place to be sometimes, right?
But just like my girl Nina Simone says "It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me ooooooooh
and I'm feeling good" A few weeks ago the owners/teachers at my yoga studio asked me if I would like to watch the kids class on Saturday mornings. The trade-off? FREE YOGA!
An unlimited monthly membership can be kind of spendy (especially for a newly single mom like me) so this seems like the perfect opportunity for me to get back on the mat. :)
birds flying high
you know how I feel
sun in the sky
you know how I feel
reeds drifting on by
you know how I feel
it's a new dawn
it's a new day
it's a new life for me
and I'm feeling good ....
I'm excited to see this! It's only open in New York now (boo!) but there's a schedule of upcoming release dates available here.
Love, Etc. is a new documentary that follows five couples for one year in New York City: old, young, gay, straight, falling in love, getting married, having babies, breaking up.
I love this idea! The online boutique Totokaelo offers a hand picked selection of clothes & accessories from both young and established designers AND they also host a private online community.
So through Totokaelo, you have access to people who share an interest in the same designers. If you’re wondering how a particular item fits, looking for new music, or need a hotel recommendation for an upcoming trip, you can turn to a community with similar tastes to your own. Brillz!
Did you have a boombox? I did and I looooooooved it. I think it used about 15 D batteries! Check out these super cool pictures of famous musicians and their boomboxes.
Cliff May was an architect practicing in California best known and remembered for developing the suburban post-war dream home — the California Ranch House. Also known as "Angie's Dream House" :)
If you have a spare 7.85 million kickin' around (and if you do we need to talk), you can pick up Sydney Pollack's Cliff May Traditional. From the Huffington Post:
For the first time in thirty years, this Cliff May traditional, built in 1941 is for sale with a listing price of $7.85 million. Sydney Pollack and his architect wife, Claire bought the home in the 1980s and lovingly restored it.
The Pollack's California shingle-roof cottage features four bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. Archetypal May qualities are highlighting throughout the home: "monolithic chimneys, thick walls, peg and groove oak floors, an oval dining room, acorn door hinges, and access to the gardens from every room," states the listing. The grounds include a saltwater pool and flora such as giant magnolias, birch and sycamore trees infuse the property.
"They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself." Andy Warhol
I read this quote somewhere last weekend and have thought about it everyday since. I wish Andy Warhol could be my life coach .. I desperately need one. Look what he did for Edie Sedgwick :)
Seriously? I can't think of a better way to celebrate the start of Summer! This recipe from Bon Appétite couldn’t be any easier either. All you do is take lime flavored ice pops and pour a mixture of tequila and lime juice over them. Finish by gently pressing one side of the popsicle into kosher salt. Done and done!
Or you mix up your own margaritas then freeze them into pops and dip in salt. Emeril Lagassi has an easy recipe for this version.
Hmmm ... is 9:00am too early for a popsicle? ;) Happy Summer!
Do you ever use airbnb? I haven't officially ... but I do spend a lot of time looking & daydreaming about places I would love to visit. :) This morning I happened to find Patagonia Camp. It's a luxury hotel/camp located in Torres del Paine, Chile.
The complex is made up of 18 yurts(!) all of which have a view of Lake Toro and the Paine Massif. There is one building that serves as a restaurant, bar and lounge. It looks soooo peaceful.
What type of daydream vacations do you like to take?
It's countryfied versions of his classics and cuts from his 1985 album Old Ways plus five brand-new tracks - all performed with the International Harvesters.
So far I'm digging 'It Might Have Been ' and 'Flying On The Ground Is Wrong'
